MEASUREMENT & TEMPERATURE CONVERSIONS

Usually majority of the measurements used in recipes out there in the world of the wide web are from American sites (either that or I just tend to visit them a lot more!). As I live in Australia, I find that I am constantly attempting to convert most of the measurements when baking..annnd I am also constantly converting oven temperatures from fahrenheit to celsius then from gas to electric or fan forced, so all of these conversions will be posted up on here and will be updated as needed.

All of the recipes on my site will be in Australian measurements and temperatures will be for electric fan forced ovens as I would have converted them for my own use.

The below is just the basic information to get you started, I will expand on this at a later time.

Spoon Measurements

1/4 tsp. = 1.25ml

1/2 tsp. = 2.5ml

1 tsp. = 5ml

1 Tbsp. = 20ml

Cup Measurements

1/4 cup = 60ml

1/3 cup = 80ml

1/2 cup = 125ml

1 cup = 250ml

Temperatures

For fan-forced ovens, as a general rule, the oven temperature should be set 10-20° lower than what is called for in the recipe. The below are approximates.

I researched the oven temperatures on the following websites. One of them has a printable chart that lists in details the weights and measurements of liquids, mass, various pans/tins, and also metric to imperial conversions for various ingredients which I have linked here.

The spoon and cup measurements are from tools I own.
